Squad Rules

The Supreme Starlights Cheerleaders were established in September 2002 by coach Zoe Barton. Zoe, a dance teacher was encouraged by the head of the BCA, Bob Kiralfy to set up a squad in the town of Wigan. Starting with a relatively few members the Starlights trained in both cheer and dance and in July 2003 the seniors entered the British Nationals at Loughborough University, attaining 2nd place in New Squad Cheer.

Since then we have claimed 46 trophies from 7 competitions. We are members of the British Cheerleading association and also the United Kingdom Cheerleading Association. We have five seperate teams:
Prep Squad (under 10)
PeeWee (under 13)
Junior (under 15)
Senior (over 16)
Senior Co-Ed (Over 16 and any outstanding younger members including males)

In these age groups we have entered cheer, dance, partner stunt and solo routines and are looking forward to adding a cheer dance team to our repetoire. 3 of our members have been to Japan to represent the UK in cheerleading.

The Supreme Starlights strive to achieve excellence in everything we do, from routines to fundraising and encouraging the growth of the sport in the community. We now have links with local high schools and our efforts often appear in the local press. Aside from the work we do, we enjoy group activities such as team building and presentation night and the most important thing is that we all get along and have a great time!
